You say that rain seems to attract to areas that are green. We have a lot of green here in CA but drought...I sometimes think it is full aquifers underground and/or the moisture evaporating off of the water in the aquifer and coming back up through the soil. I wonder if on a large plain if rain clouds center over herds of animals because of any where on the plain the animals are full of water and water has the property of attracting to itself.
